Ownership/management scared of the fanbase to even bring up rebuild, team needs a rebuild and a bottom out. If scheifele/helly gets moved, I’m scared that there is going to be a rather large hole at 1c/2c, and net possibly get to mid, but also missing that stud defenseman only usually picked in the top 7/8 in draft and usually top 5 ish. So going to grind and try to pull out all the stops to bubble next few years, alienate Connor/ehlers, maybe even morrissey and force them all out of town and probably have a nasty rebuild. I like our last 2/3 first rounders, and what was brought back in that Dubois trade, so there is some hope. Jets should have done more with the talent they had, but never truly recovered from buffy retiring and exit of myers and trouba. Jets need more of a junior philosophy or lesser Montreal expos philosophy and fire sale and buy into a major rebuild, every 7/8 years. But never go over well with the fanbase.

Yeah, your Mgmt seems to be in a really tough spot
I really thought u guys had the talent to win a Cup, or even 2 maybe, over the last 5 years
Bummer that hasn’t worked
U guys have been a fun team to watch

Little too many loyalty contracts and the players started running the place, so ya there needs some changes for sure, seems like they lost there way for a couple drafts, but hoping they have figured that out and the next wave is coming. I’m hoping they may have turned the corner also of whatever has been keeping them from developing from moose to jets, but we will see.

Lol I get that, and im sure you see all the dumb trades because Buffalo's needs are so few. You look at the depth charts and it looks like they're set on RD, but I think that's the only thing they're really lacking is a top pairing RD and the teams that have them aren't to keen on giving them up.

I get how it *looks like that
BUT
Dahlin plays RD, even though he’s LH

And i absolutely LOVE Samuelsson paired with him,
he’s a perfect compliment
So while it seems we could use a top pair RD,
I don’t think that’s actually the case

1- can really afford to pay Dahlin & Power & have another high priced defenseman
2- i don’t think guys with the talent of Dahlin & power NEED to play with an AllStar level partner- they just need a guy who’s dependable enough to let our studs do what they do

We’ve found that in Samuelsson (for Dahlin)
And the hope now is that Clifton can be that for Power,
which seems reasonable to me- & if it doesn’t work out,
we still have Jokiharju. He’s been inconsistent, but i think a lot of that has been bc of injuries. He’s also looked very good at times paired with Dahlin & Power, so there’s still potential for him to be that guy.
And i think Erik Johnson is a good “failsafe” to have brought in,
just in case everything else goes to ****, lol

IMO, our biggest issue is in net
While we like Levi as “the future,” it’s way too soon to know for certain
Finding a solid Vet to be a bridge for a year or 2 would be ideal
But it seems Sabres Mgmt wants to see what our current trio- Levi, Comrie, UPL- can do, before we make any moves

I think they’ll be “ok”
Likely good enough to get us to the playoffs
From there, just depends on if our “#1” (hopefully that’s Levi) can get hot & carry us through a few rounds

To your previous points,
I do expect (at least) a couple “big” trades coming
But that might not be till the deadline, or even next offseason

I think the roster we have now,
is gonna look pretty similar to the roster we head into Camp with

Sabres need a center like Joe Veleno, someone who is fast and defensively minded. All your centers are offensive guys which is a big reason you can't keep the puck out of your net. Also need another big physical winger as most of the forwards on the Sabres are extremely soft, softer than the Red Wings which is really bad.

I actually agree with this, but I do think Krebs is that two way center, he's gonna get the look. Not sure how best to address the lack of size up front, there's plenty of sabres fans who will point out that Thompson, cozens. Tuch, and Greenway have size, but even if you wanna selectively point to a few guys, there's almost no grit at all. You could add grit with marginal talent, which seems like a bit of a cop out. Or you could take some of these extremely talented but undersized forwards and shoot for a Timo meier type, which would probably be my vote.

Ya definitely not faster and definitely not better defensively

Let's just assume your point is right. Regardless, Buffalo will not be trading for Joe Veleno and certainly not trading Matt Savoie, who projects to be a very good top 6 player.

Krebs is a major bust

Bro you just hate every young player on the Sabres I guess eh? Or maybe just the products of the Winnipeg ICE. tears of joy
