Raymond is only 21 years old Anderson is a terrible contract and giving up veleno too. Raymond is young and matches the future and is a top 6 player while Anderson is not.
Josh Anderson is an extremely rare player, only a few like him in the league which is why he's so valuable. He's not old and fits the Alex DeBrincat timeline with four more years on his contract. Also I think he's fairly paid and will probably be underpaid in the playoffs. Red Wings win the deal as I'm really not a fan of Lucas Raymond. I feel pretty confident in my opinion on him and think Montreal will regret the trade after they watch him play up close some more. Age needs to stop being the ultimate excuse for him. He has very little positive impact on the game and is another Zadina. He's terrible defensively and turns the puck over a lot and is soft. He had one hit last year and was held up by Larkin. When he's not playing with Larkin he's even more invisible only scoring two goals the last thirty games. I'm a big fan of Joe Veleno but Red Wings have younger centers that will replace him and he's still not signed so I could see him being traded. He can really skate and he's french so Habs will like that. Josh Anderson is physical on the forecheck and plays a really heavy game which would really help that first line. Red Wings would really feel good having him in the lineup. They also have Rasmussen and Kostin who play a heavy game so it's a playoff style lineup. They also have Soderblom so Derek Lalonde can put a big heavy line together when he wants like last season. Rasmussen can play on the wing and center. So they could play him on the wing again with Copp and Perron which was a really good line for them last season. But they could also play him at center with Soderblom, Kostin or Anderson. That would be a really effective line to create energy on the forecheck and create chaos.

But Josh Anderson would probably play with Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Larkin as they would need his physical presence on that line to create chaos on the forecheck and create space and get rebounds out front. Good trade for the Red Wings as they have two timelines. The next four years with Larkin, DeBrincat, Anderson and then 5-10 years with their really young core which right now is Seider, Edvinsson, Danielson, Kasper, Soderblom and others. They have enough young players and prospects to make Raymond expendable to help them win in the next four years. Just my opinion being a Red Wings fan that watches every game and has been a fan for 31 years.
