Robertson is not a 4th line player. Lafferty is solid there for what he brings. And Timmins is good cheap depth. I think Treliving has three better options to get under the cap: trade Jarnkrok, trade Nylander, or trade Brodie.

This sentence got more and more wild with each passing word - you're saying we should retain Lafferty a 4th liner - when we could replace him with someone making 800K ( doesnt have to be Robertson) in order to trade Nylander (our second best scorer) or Brodie (our best defender)??

Timmins at 1.1 is an offensive D luxury that's probably unnecessary

Jarnkrok also scored 21 goals for 2.1 million and had high level defensive results - don't see that getting moved. Additionally Tree traded for him in Calgary.

That 1.1 can be buried no problem so Timmins will likely stay on.

The fact is the Leafs need to clear a little over 2 million in cap. I think it's better to get rid of one guy than two, especially considering one of them will probably walk as a UFA next year and the other is an aging veteran who had a rough postseason.

Rather get something for him than lose him for nothing on waivers

Because the collective ACGM opinion on Brodie is far lower than his actual on ice contributions. He's their best RD and a very good defensive dman even for his cap hit.

Rewatch Brodie's play in Game 3 against Florida on the final goal in OT. He was atrocious. If that qualifies as the best RD on the Leafs then they have bigger problems than being cap compliant by the start of the season.

You should blame Kampf a lot more for that outcome on his low effort attempt at denying zone entry.
