Lol look at all the team’s caps. The only teams who actually have a lot of cap space are the teams who suck and rebuilding

Rangers have $2.2m and are middle of the pack. Says a lot

12 teams in the league have no issues with cap space and could still add a player(s). The ones who would offersheet Laf are the "teams who suck and rebuilding"

Better up your offer to a 1st and 3rd. And that’ll be lottery pick

Rangers aren’t gonna let a former 1st go for a 2nd round pick lol

You are clearly missing the point of the contract offer. Even at the $4,290,000 that puts the pressure on the Rangers not the Hawks. If any team in the league puts a sheet on Laf no way they exceed that amount and give up a 1st Rd pick or more.

Yea and the rangers match it lol

Then creates bad tensions between Chicago and NYR for the future. There’s a reason why offer sheets rarely happen

It's not as simple as looking at the cap space, you have to analyze every team's situation individually...the home page here is only a rough guideline.

Furthermore, you just proved your statement "every team in the league is pretty much against the wall cap wise" is wrong...that's the point. Every team that isn't competing would potentially be interested in Laffy as well and has the cap space to corner NY. If NY has to sign Laffy for $4.2M, they are operating with only a 20 man roster to do it and next to know cap flexibility if something happens such as short term injuries.

Oh no, look out for tension with another franchise so as to not risk improving your own franchise's chances of success. Ranger fans have me baffled on this entire Laf contract situation. They won't say what his trade value is, they won't say what type of contract he should get or how he cracks the top 6 on the Rangers above Panarin or Krieder.

With the cap going up 5 mil a year from now, why not? His 2-year deal expires before you have to consider paying any of these prospects.

Yea I know the offer sheet is to make things hard for the rangers, but they would rather dump goodrow with a ton of picks than lose Laffy for a 2nd

Lol what’s to stop the rangers from offer sheet Bedard after his ELC is up? GMs don’t offer sheet because they don’t want bad business for future deals

I think the only team he would sign with before Christmas is the Hawks. He has already been showing Bedard around Chicago this week so I think it is a possibility. Kane being on this team for another two years probably is great for this crop of prospects to learn from. Malkin got $6.1 for like 4 years. I think KD will avoid term on any veteran contract past 2-3 years until he locks up Bedard long term.

Bedard won't get to the point of offer sheet the Hawks will extend him before his 3rd year starts and it would not even get that far. You can only offersheet someone if you have the cap room and picks availble. The Rangers would have to get ready to offersheet around $13 mil per and they won't have that. The fact that the Rangers can't play the #1 overall pick in their top 6 says all you need to know about what other teams are willing to give up to acquire Laf.

They could possibly have that as Panarin’s $11m comes off the books and see what happens with Laffy and kakko’s future. And offer sheet Bedard was an example, not him specifically

What's to stop the Rangers from doing it to Bedard? Nothing except the fact that Chicago will have plenty of cap space and it would be a futile effort as it's no issue for Chicago to match it. The only time teams have done it is when the other team has their back against the wall cap wise.

If I'm not mistaken Hammer got an offer sheet from the Sharks after they won the Cup in 10. Yet the world spins on.

I highly doubt any team will have the chance to offer sheet Bedard because Chicago won’t let it get there.

But my point is say they give Bedard $13m+ and for whatever reason they become tight against the cap, the rangers could offer sheet Oliver Moore or whoever looks promising 3 years from now

Of course but they should not stop the Hawks or any other team from trying to make their team better now for the fear that in a few years, the Rangers might offer sheet someone. Offersheets are part of the game. It is just rare when a top prospect like Laf #1 overall gets to the point where is entry level deal has expired and he appears a a depth player on a cap strapped team... that is blood in the water IMO.

Laffy will probably come in around $2.5m. He said he loves being a Ranger and which a new coach comes new possible opportunities

It only got to that point because of Covid. No one saw this coming and the cap only rising $1m. Covid mainly benefited teams going into a rebuild or coming out of one
