I'm probably undervaluing Jarnkrok here, but assume that he gets a couple of middling draft picks (or one of Anaheim's three 2024 third round picks). The return is not important, so don't fixate on that issue.

Pontus Holmberg could be the 13th forward instead of Nic Robertson. Or both could be on the main roster if you want to chance putting Gambrell on waivers. (Note that the difference between Robertson's cap hit and that of every other player on the 50-man roster is less than the cap space shown here.)

Jarnkrok is a high price to pay for cap compliance, but to me, it makes more sense to trade him than T. J. Brodie.

Connor Timmins is retained because other than William Lagesson, I don't see anyone promotable from the Marlies in case of injury.

I think that Occam's Razor is instructive here.

Of course, this may all be moot by Wednesday.
