Honestly if you’re looking for just boqvist I don’t think there is a deal there unless SJ gets a late 1st. But if you were interested in give up hertl in a package for say roslovic boqvist sillinger and a protected 1st that would be interesting .

Hertl had one near point per game season 5 years ago and so many Jackets fans want to trade a bag for him. He's about to turn 30 and hasn't shown anything to support the idea that he'd suddenly get better and be worth his $8M/year on the Jackets. I don't get it.

It’s not as much as it seems. Roslovic is a UFA next year who likely won’t be back, boqvist is gonna get buried behind guys like severson and jiricek, sillinger had solid rookie year and then a terrible sophomore year he is hard to figure out. And then a protected 1st. Hertl is still a number 1 C it’s not like he has had much to work with these last few years. I mean if Columbus can get him for less by all means but he would be a good fit in Columbus’ top 6

I think it's less about the cost in a trade and more the contract. It's not like JT Miller's or anything, but I think it's pretty risky to commit 8 mil to a player like Hertl for that long. If he was signed for 6 mil a year, I don't think I'd have a problem giving up that package, but the contract is just scary given that CBJ already have quite a few big ones on the books and a lot of you guys who will be getting big raises next offseason, and in the following few years.
