Is Justin Holl good?

He’s terrible and DET should’ve never signed him for that figure. That being said, if you’re just going to scratch him, than buy him out lol

Toronto media/fans always overhype or over hate a player. Holl is probably paid too much but with the cap going up next year it doesn’t really hurt Detroit. But if Detroit plays him in the bottom 6 he is a good option. If he’s playing top D pair minutes, then he gets exposed. I see the D pairings as:
Walman-Seider
Maatta-Gostisbehere
Chiarot-Holl

Holl at 2mil is okay value for third pairing. Holl at 3.4mil is an overpay for third pairing.

Has nothing to do with Toronto media lol, he’s legitimately paid 75% more than he’s worth

As for the others, you literally just outlined other bad signings. So because other D men got signed to bad deals, that makes signing Holl to a bad deal makes sense? What’s your angle here?

I think you're confusing "bad" with "market". $3.4M for a solid 3rd pair on a team with tons of cap space hardly qualifies as bad. Thanks for the Twitter link though, very helpful.

Mayfield is not a bad signing, Clifton is not a bad signing, Schenn is not a bad signing.
