Description

This would only be possible to happen next offseason (prior to 24/25) but what if both Cutter Gauthier & Logan Cooley refuse to play for their drafted teams?

Why this works?

PHI - Although Gauthier is good, Cooley is in a class of his own on top of Gauthier. As they count on Michkov coming over for the 24/25 season, they can have 2 of the top rookies vying for the Calder Trophy. Cooley, a Pennsylvania native, returns close to home, and escapes the dysfunctionality of the Coyotes organization.

ARZ - Even though Gauthier isn't an Arizona native, Sean Couturier is. While representing Canada. Assuming the Yotes miss out on Matthews, they can strike on a 1C in Couturier. Former Selke trophy winner, can provide defensive structure up front alongside the high flying offence of Keller. Gauthier, who refused to attend the Flyers development camp, gets a fresh start.

I personally think the gap between Cooley - Couturier/Gauthier is 32 picks give or take, so that's why we swap the FLA 1st & 2nd round picks. Because who knows what type of player Couturier will be after missing a full year

Its believed Gauthier didn't attend camp because for a college player to attend a camp a second year the player must pay for 100% of the expenses and because he's been playing so much hockey these past few months that he just needed a break.

I don't understand why people always equate that a player who has dedicated themselves to another year at college not attending a single training camp means he wants out.

Gauthier can also not play in dev camp if he is enrolled in any summer classes, so there are many reasons why he isn't there. Not one of which, is because he wants to distance himself from the Flyers. Stupid rumors being spread there for no reason.

Gauthier was with the us at u-20 just before flyers camp
