Could see us being one of the teams in on Martin Jones. Could also possibly be interested in someone like Maxime Comtois. And the wild card for me is Tatar; he may have thought he could get a multi year deal around 4m but with cap it’s tough. If he wanted to return for a year, I think Devils would welcome that at ~2m

Basically echoing the guy above, I think defense stays where it’s at and Nemec gets another year in the A. Wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring in a veteran on a league min deal to fill a spot in the bottom 6 like Parise.

Could you see NJ maybe giving Comtois a 1year/1mil deal to play on the 4th line and Foote starts in the AHL? And if after 15-20 games if Comtois isn't good, we bring up Foote and send Comtois to the Comets?

Foote isn’t waiver exempt and likely wouldn’t clear waivers. Even if Foote isn’t in the starting lineup, he’ll most likely be on the 23 man roster. Tyce Thompson also isn’t waiver exempt so you could see him initially make the roster over someone like Graeme Clarke due to that

I agree. I want to see Nemec in the NHL but if we can slide him again and let's say he comes in next year and just blows everyone away, especially on an ELC, everyone will be happy.

The difference between paying Nemec 900k instead 8-9m in 26-27 could prove invaluable for the Devils as they'll be right in their window of contention at that time.
That's why I'm such a big fan of Fitzgerald picking Miller up in that trade.

Plus it was just a 5th round pick, good deal by Fitzy.
