Ur not getting retention on Pageau, because it does not work cap wise for NY and it’s just not necessary. Also, the fact is that Anaheim and Detroit are going to be reluctant to move their own first round picks next year. Also if the isles trade for DeBrincat their pick won’t be high in the draft order either. I expect Dorian is looking for a similar return to the Dubois trade, which none of these three teams can offer. That’s why I mentioned the Sens three current suitors and why the Cat return will most likely be underwhelming imo.

You guys can keep him.....We aren't paying half that amount. Remember he's not re-signing with Ottawa, you have no leverage at all.
And if you can find someone else to take him, good for you. No club is going to trade for him with his salary demands so high

Ottawa traded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for DeBrincat while he still had term. Not to mention he's coming off a down year, and is basically holding Ottawa to 5 potential trading partners.
