Petry and Granlund almost combine for EK's contract, so if SJ were to take those back and retain a significant sum of Karlsson's deal, the first would probably have to be from 2024 and another pick of some kind from '25, but this is a good outline to what an EK to PIT trade would look like.

I think it is two 1sts since Pickering is still an A prospect.

If this was the offer, I think the deal would already be done. Pit either doesn't want to give up this much or doesn't want Karl to have such a large cap hit.

This would be a horrendous trade which would cripple us and set us back a decade. Why? Not because of EK or even the players in the trade but that 2025 1st will be our most important 1st round pick in about 2 decades. It is simply a non-starter.
