keep the rebuild going for next year
sign de haan as deadline fodder
bring in depth for rockford
take on myers buyout for a pick
take on the worst contract (vlasic) in the nhl for a reduced salary and hope that he retires or buy him out in a year or 2
this team is gonna suck but has a ton of players that can be traded for futures so maybe they won’t suck for long

forgot he was on ltir. id do the same trade but swap poolman with myers and either buy him out or just use him for a year. the cap would be tight but they have the space to do it and not get burned

Don't really need that cap space in the next three years. We're basically in the same boat as Chicago there, both rebuilding teams. Especially because it will only get better when EK65 is traded.

more cap space gives them the option to take on bad contracts for picks like chicago did last season with mrazek and zaitsev. they could also retain more salary in a karlsson deal, which as far as i can tell is the major holdup in trading him.
