The value is there but I think both teams decline. Calgary is far too cap strapped and Coronato will be dirt cheap for another 2 years, and Toronto isn't rebuilding. Also Nylander is not worth 9.5M is that really what he's reportedly asking for?

They can flip that 1st at the trade deadline for immediate help.

If Nylander is dealt to the Flames there aren't any assets I want back other than these. It looks like Hanifin doesn't want to play in Canada, and Calgary wouldn't trade Lindholm for Nylander cause that makes zero sense. And you look at that roster and there isn't anyone else worth trading for other than Rasmus Anderson who Calgary won't give up.

From all the radio I've listened to in the past couple of days, that's the number that's been discussed as the starting point for Nylander. James Mirtle of the Athletic and Dave Poulin of TSN both have said that Nylander's camp see their comparable as Marner, not guys who have recently signed under 9 million like Meier and PLD. Nylander doesn't want to sign for anything less than 9, and they want something in the double digits.

For the Leafs even 9.5 is too much. So it's highly likely he gets traded this summer.
