Ok so lets say Mathews gets 13 million AAV, Samsanov gets 4 Million AAV (generous), Then you have to Sign LILJEGREN at atleast 4 million next year (arb rights). Lastly all of the other forward spots have to be filled because they only have 9 skaters so again tell me how do they sign Nylander

No you are doing what everyone on here does with the leafs. You are rationalizing reasons to get Nylander for half the price he's worth to screw over leaf fans.

BUF, DET, CAR, NSH, PIT, and SEA are a few teams with cap that could be interested, others would make cap and it won't be as hard since the Leafs would be looking to make a hockey trade.

I'm not too sure Nylander is going to bring a huge haul but I do think it could cost them an established roster player instead of Salo.

Look at how much they are paying for defense, it would be one year of a crunch (next year) then Tavares' becomes at least half price.

Wahlstrom is fine, especially since he has a good shot could be a potential long-term replacement, and can contribute now as a depth player. As for a bottom pairing guy, I don't think the Leafs would be after that. Even Pageau would probably be more valuable to them as a solid 3C.

As for Dobson, they won't net him because of the contract situation. Otherwise, Adam Larsson was a RD and he was traded for Hall in a 1 for 1.

Yeah, but they would probably trade Nylander for Hanifin+ for example unless they are making a pivot for Karlsson, but I don't see why they would want Salo still unless SJ likes him (they have a ton of LD though).

NSH is not competing for theplayoffs don;t see them committing to a 27 year old soon to be UFA, Buffalo is looking for Defense not offense, PIT has to many contracts locked up long term , DET its possible but I think they want Debrincat and so the only other team is SEA

NSH is in a retool, they aren't in a win now mode anymore but they could kick tires. Pittsburgh could choose to trade Guentzel for Nylander.

You forgot Carolina though which is a very likely destination for him. They are a team that could use him and they have Pesce who the Leafs can use. The teams that I mentioned are just those who have more cap than the Isles, so even if a lot are unlikely, there should easily be 5-6 teams who are interested, and having 2 other teams (CAR and perhaps SEA) that are highly interested is enough. So, the Isles could get him but they aren't the only team.
