Pretty safe bet that AM34 isn't signing 13Mx8. The expectation is that it's a 3-5 year deal. I think after that he seeks max contract whether that be in Toronto or elsewhere.

I think the Leafs would be better off signing Bailey than paying up for Laughton.

Laughton is a guy. There's lots of guys that can play on the third line. Giving up high draft picks for this particular one is silly. Guaranteed he's not getting traded for that much. Bailey, Connor Brown, Lars Eller, Kerfoot, Connor Sheary. Laughton may be better than those guys but they don't cost a first and a third.

Yeah, only wqy that cost could be worth it is if he was doubling as a 2C, but I don't see him as a good fit there and he hasn't really done anything to suggest he can play up the line up on a team like the Leafs. Really just an unnecessary risk. I think Holmberg could be the 3C of the future, so they might as well just play Kampf as the 3C until that happens or a different opportunity comes along.
