Agree with ARZ placement, maybe worse. They have me seriously worried. I feel like they could have traded for free assets at least once if they were going to reach so far down. Time will tell to see if they were geniuses with their picks

1 - Yeah. Kinda predictable. They'll be quite happy indeed down the road.

2 - Danielson is a boss. Getting Sandin-Pelikka down at 17 was damn good business. And surprising, I guess Yzerman will take a smaller Dman after all.

3 - I don't think Simashev is near as big a reach as everyone seems to. I get it. They wanted to make sure they got a big, commanding Dman. Reinbacher was gone. They surely feared Simashev would not last to #12 or that Willander would last to #12, which was pretty predictable. And the kid's a beast. I think more offense will come and he could be a top pairing gem. So for that pick alone, I'd actually give them a did the job. The problem is But at #12. Could he be a decent big guy with some goals, sure. Is he gonna be better than Moore, Barlow, Honzek, Benson and a few other forwards? Highly doubt it.

But you're right, they probably could have traded down a couple spots safely for Simashev and, hell.... 8-10 for But?

the thing that suprised me was that he saw it coming, Pelikka had his name on the back of the jersey.

They probably had an array of jerseys ready. I'm surprised all teams don't do that.

I think it was a decent sized reach, but the real issue is all the forwards they passed on to take him. Frankly, I aaaalmost knocked them down to ehhh I dunno man... probably should have, actually. It wasn't a good pick for my tastes.
