I like it. I am liking that people are putting Janko on a line with Backs and Frolik and having Matty and Sam together. Not sure I'm sold on Vrbata, but he's better than Brouwer. Unfortunately I don't think there are too many teams out there willing to take him off our hands, and I'm not sure we'd get a 2nd for him if they did. I think it more likely that Ferland plays 1st RW again and that Brouwer slots next to Sam and Matty to start. Might also see Stone re-signed at #5, which would mean a battle between Kulak, Bartkowski and Andersson for that last 2 spots. Also think Rittich might be ahead of Gillies right now so that Gillies gets plenty of playing time in the A.

Vegas wouldn't even take Brouwer for free at the expansion draft. Why on earth would they give up a 2nd round pick for him? Unfortunately, he is here to stay until he is bought out.
Vrbata is 36 years old. Not really realistic to expect him to be a legit top line winger on a team that wants to contend. I would prefer to see them try Sam Bennett as top line RW to try and spark his offense.
Mark Jankowski is not a second line player. Nor will he likely ever be. He might slide into a 3C role next year, but more likely is a career 4C (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Vegas could have some interest, but not for a 2nd rounder.

Maybe if CGY retained $1.125M (25%). At that salary, VGK has the option to retain another 25% (50% is the max) and flip him to a team looking to add "grit and leadership and magical unicorn jelly beans, etc." for a playoff run. There is some value there, especially if the end owner of Brouwer is only coughing up $2.25M in cap space to have him play a bottom 6 role.

Okay yeah the Brouwer deal was bad I get it but I just randomly chose a team for him to go to. I'm sure someone would give up even a 5th for him. As for Jankowski, how do you know? He had a big year in Stockton and his development seems to be progressing, I'd rather stick him on the second line with two responsible veterans like Backlund and Frolik and let him adjust to the NHL game. I think Vrbata is a good fill-in for one season, had 20 goals last year on Arizona despite having an 8.6% shooting percentage. He's definitely not a long term option though.
