... yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. And likely what the Hawks want to do as well. Paying a 4th liner 4m to reach the cap floor likely indicates that. Especially considering Mrazek and Soderblom might be the tandem as well.

Also, Jones had some pretty decent defensive metrics. He's able to play in a top 4 nicely. Zaitsev doesn't get bought out to reach the cap floor. He can stay scratched if they want to upgrade there.

I'm thinking Chicago runs it back with a similar roster, only this time giving Bedard some help in the top 6 to shine. You WANT to be able to land someone like Eiserman next year to build around Bedard.

Hawks have a boatload of dmen coming up . They should be playing pro to get experience they will make mistakes . But like you said Hawks aren't looking to make the playoffs . Tinordi , Caleb , Zaitsev are untradeable or worth almost nothing . Complete waste of roster spots . Galvas , Phillips , Roos need pro experience .
