Islanders decline. Sure Marner is great but not at the value you are asking. Brodie and Robertson really add nothing to the trade. Brodie is old and in the last year of his deal. Not to mention the Islanders already have Pelech and Romanov. 5 mill for a third pair LD. Uhhh no thanks. Robertson has shown flashes but he has no value.

Pulock is a top pair RD, under contract at a very reasonable cap hit for 7 more years. Pageau would be a 2nd line center on a ton of other teams. He was just 4 points shy of his career high, while playing with a laughable rotating character cast. (Simon Holmstrom, Hudson Fasching, Josh Bailey, Zach Parise, Kieffer Bellows) Walstrom although streaky has shown he is an effective 2nd/3rd line player and his next going to come in at under 2 mill because of his recent injury. That first very well can be a lottery pick. The Islanders were lucky that the other teams around them stunk toward the end of this season otherwise they would have been in the lottery this year.


A top RD, a 2/3 C, a 1st, a 2nd, and a young winger might be the price for Marner. This would make the Islanders' roster worse and not help their cap space or prospect pool.

Isles decline, moving all those pieces for Marner basically would make us worst. Would have twice as many holes in our rosters with this move -AND we are taking on more salary in this deal. No brainer for us to say "NO"

I think Pat Verbeek hangs onto Max Jones

We're fine tossing a mid round pick for Timmins, but Jones looks TK be turning the corner developmentally, were going to hang onto him and see what we have.
