<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jester9881</b></div><div>I think the loss has made some Leaf fans stop thinking clearly. Of all the players on the team, why would you trade Morgan Reilly?</div></div>
Rielly isnt the type of #1D the leafs need. Hes. OFD puck disturber on the PP, leafs already have marner for that role. He lacks the willingness to shoot and a booming shot from the point. Leafs need a threat from the blue line and putting Rielly on the 2nd PP is wasting cap as it kills his overall effectiveness (I.E, the Barrie experience).
After watching the PP get shut down for 3 years in a row something has to change. Teams are covering each flank now cause its obvious Rielly is going to walk the line and just pass to either Marner/Matthews, which neither get lanes to since the top of each box takes out shooting lanes. Need to find someone with a shot threat so teams need to decide if they are taking away the shot from the point or from either flank

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Calling Manson a top end rental d man is a joke unto itself. Klingberg, the former Norris contender, would be the top end of the rental defensemen. Mark Giodano, the Norris winner just a few seasons ago would be the top end of rental defensemen. Hampus Lindholm could fit into that description too. Manson has nothing that even remotely puts him in that realm. There's two or three levels between Manson and the top end of the rental defensemen. A 1st, 2 decent prospects and a replacement is more than enough for 2 months of Manson.
To point out just how ridiculous you are I want you to look at the return Muzzin got. This trade is very similar to it while Muzzin was both better than Manson and had term remaining. If anything the OP is giving away too much.</div></div>
Exactly, Plus Muzzin is ALOT better then Manson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>How has Ritchie gone from quite literally zero value to worth a 4th?? As for the main part of this you’re going after a top end rental D man and young forward for a D man whose been a scratch that’s paid too much, a D man whose best part of his game is that his dog is cute plus a D prospect who’s not as good as what the Ducks have plus and undersized winger who has never played in North America pluuuuss a draft pick in the bottom 5-10 picks of the first round. A lot of quantity doesn’t equal any quality.</div></div>
If you have a pulse on the ducks, The entire fanbase says Steel is in a make it or break it season as he isnt living up to expectations, so a 24 year old Center being traded for a 25 year old dman who both have similiar contracts and could use a change of scenery makes sense

As a leafs fan, if you wanted to do Tarasenko for Marner, you’d probably have to include one of your young wingers (Blais or Thomas) and maybe throw in your late first for our late second.
Vladdy is too much of a risk with his reoccuring shoulder injury + his age

They take J.Holl Or Dermott. I think they would take Brooks before Kerfoot.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but multiple Leafs beat writers have been on record saying Seattle really likes Kerfoot and thats gonna be their pick. Leafs are doing 4-4-1 since they dont have enough contracts to do 7-3-1 so Holl will be protected.
Not to mention with the insane amounts of young LHD with potential (Bean, Lauzon, Stanley, Fleury, Kylington all off the top of my head) the odds of Seattle taking dermott are drastically reduced since they will need to pick forwards who can make a impact</div></div>

Leafs also only got a extra 3rd tacked on the kessel trade to retain 1.2m for 7 years. Truth is theres no set in stone price for retaining $$$ yet so i used this as a template

All you duck fans keep saying this, but he was nearly traded for Virtanen, and Virtanen is worth nothing. Not to mention its been reported all season how Terry wants out of Anaheim. Theres 0 way your getting a decent pick AND prospect for him. Maybe a 3rd or a B/C prospect and later pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingLundqvist30</b></div><div>Ducks reject, they aren’t going to take scraps for Gibson. The only enticing pieces would be Niemela and Amirov.</div></div>
Lets examine some trades involving elite goalies from the last decade or so shall we?
Miller trade got the sabers Halak, Stewart, Carrier, 1st and 3rd.
This trade gets the ducks Andersen (better then Halak), A 1st, plus a blue chip prospect and a B prospect. Alot better of a return.
Schneider got the Nucks the 9th overall pick.
Luongo got them Markstorm, Matthias,
Andersen to the leafs was for 30th overall and a 3rd.
Murray for a prospect and a mid 2nd.
The core of the trade is Gibson for Amirov, Neimela, and a 1st.
Andersen and Mikheyev are included to make the money work, and the Ducks can easily trade him for 50% retained to any club and get atleasr another 2nd + prospect if they want.
Then you have Dermott for Steel, both young peices that could use a change of scenery

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Missed that, thanks....
First off, no one can roll with 18 players, thinking that you don't have to carry a 13th forward and 7th dman, even at league minimum is crazy. And I don't think Spezza takes another sweetheart deal for this mess though, when he easily gets twice that with a better contender.
And again you're dealing two or three guys with mid level/lower salaries, (kappy, johnsson, dermott), all your depth, and you still have just enough for probably one quality defenseman. And those guys are quality for their salary, theres no way you get that production or level of play from league minimum guys.
The defense and team defense are weak, if you deal your mid level salaries, you are going to wind up playing 5-6, even 7 youngsters a night, (and I'm not convinced they're good youngsters), and still have the same weaknesses. The increase to holl, muzzin, Campbell had to be done, but again that's just to maintain the pretty average status quo. If we had more kapanens, reillys, sandins or Matthews coming thru the system, great, but we don't (only leaf fans think we have this awesome prospect pool) and are very hopefully expecting them to over achieve, due to the fact were capped out, and no help is coming.
Looking at the cap picture for next year, dealing a kapanen or johnsson doesn't help or address the team weaknesses, but dealing a bigger salary might.
All I'm saying is based on the salaries for next year, expect the same firewagon offense, one of the leagues worst defenses</div></div>

Chris Johnson already reported that if Spezza plays next year (and hes looking to) its the leafs or retirement and money isnt a concern for him so expect another sweetheart deal.
Freidmen also said on his podcast that its expected Spezz is getting a job with the leafs once he hangs em up
