I don't love the ufas but killorn and varly signings seem right out of the yzerman handbook. Short term vets who bring a little and don't cost much. I just don't see karlsson as a fit and Im not paying that kind of price for him. He was a complete black hole defensively last year and just given free reign to rover offensively which we know he won't be allowed to do here. Spend the assets on a better fitting piece.

Just doesn't make sense for us, where we are in our rebuild, to part with good assets for players that won't be around or won't be as good when we are competitive. We still have holes in the roster that can really only be filled by drafting and developing. Probably another 1-2 years before playoffs are a thing for us b and 3-4 before we look like contenders. The worst part of it is we have been out of the playoffs for 7 years but really only rebuilding for 4 when Yzerman took over. Holland left this team so effed when he left.

There's a reason behind it, Steve has preached the same message for 6 years on repeat and again in his offseason presser. All the moves he's basically made has shown his track record with it is steady. We or at least I understand the vision for this team and the direction he's taking it, 95% of the people on here have no clue and just offer what they think would work, which usually doesn't make sense for our rebuild and timeline. Once we get to the next step a lot of these moves would make more sense, but today they still don't
