Would love to know the offer u think beats it. 14th overall in a deep draft, and 21st overall from last year.

They've had discussions about bigger returns than this already.

Pickering is a nice prospect, but LD isn't NSH's greatest need. Josi, McDonagh and Lauzon all have 3-5 years of term left. Stastney is NHL ready.Del Gaizo is supposed to be close to ready, if not there already. A true 1st line center prospect and top four RD prospects are what NSH needs most.

NSH is in a weird spot. One way to look at it is if u do trade saros you’re not trying to be competitive and looking to rebuild. They still have forsberg and Josi which will make it hard to tank with those guys. Which would make them 2-3 years away from being competitive. I know this past season they’ve acquired a ton of picks for players making it seem as if that is the route they are taking. It isn’t clear what prospect is mentioned, and LA’s first round picks are later than ours. I personally think it would be smarter for them to trade him to an eastern conference team, rather than LA who they could run into the playoffs in the future. I guess we’ll see if as mentioned below if that ship has sailed.

Personally I think CAR makes the most sense, if NSH trades Saros. The Canes are currently a strong contender, that needs a bit more to get over the top. They have a need in net with Andersen and Raanta being UFAs, and the relatively inexperienced Kochetkov being their only goalie with any pro games under his belt. The Canes have plenty of cap space to work with, meaning a trade wouldn't be complicated by NSH having to take salary back. CAR's 1sts are late, but they have multiple top RD prospects (Morrow and Nikishin). Either of those guys would be of great interest to NSH, and CAR only needs to package one of them in a Saros offer. They'd still get to hold onto one themselves.

AZ trade is 3m cash (buyout over 35) for a 2nd & 4th next year, for Pitt 3m cap space but lose 2 picks (their pick board is measly). Is this good for Pitt?

Pitt how about; your 1st next (top 5 protected) for Carter (AZ buyout) and get 3rd '23, 2nd '24, 3rd '24 and 5th '23 - Pitt needs cap space and depth picks, AZ has too many pick wants better.

Definitely worth it for Pittsburgh, Carter is negative value on pens roster not even mentioning his cap hit. Can’t have are 3 centers all be 36 plus. This team needs some youth. Pens are in win now mode, and moving on from carter would help a lot. I would only be opposed to that trade because I feel that they will need that first to acquire an impact player. Don’t like the idea of moving a first for a cap dump with only 1 year left. It isn’t the worst trade possible as pens hopefully we make the playoffs and have a run meaning the first would be later.

agree on all points, for AZ middle picks arent that appealing as they have so many, 1st never have enough when rebuilding. Problem for Pitt if win now, that 1st in '24 doesnt help till maybe 25/26. use the 3 mil cap savings toward getting a younger middle 6 C.

Yep honestly reading it back over it honestly is a pretty fair trade.
