Wait, the flyers just signed sanheim to an 8 year deal (with a NTC) but they will trade him to you for Myers (cap dump), rathbone (decent prospect, but coming off a bad year) and 2024 1st (probably mid round). Why would flyers do this?

Team with a brand new regime in charge and heading in a new direction. I know that he is coming off a tough year and have have heard rumours that they want to move him. May be wrong on that and possible that the price would be higher, but there is certainly risk with taking on that contract.

Because Sanheim sucks. I'd make this deal in a heartbeat. Personal fan of Rathbone and they can flip Myers at TDL since he'll be dirt cheap for contending teams to fit on their cap sheet.

Who signed him? The old gm that just got canned? Don’t forget the NTC - maybe sanheim doesn’t want to join the Canuck’s, they are a bit of a true fire too

NTC kicks in July 1st so they can trade him anywhere before then. I wish he was off the team, he is terrible and the deal Chuck signed him to is even worse.

Because he's massively overpaid and wasn't a Briere signing. I'd do that deal ten out of ten times.

Contrarian here, but I feel slimy thinking of trading Sanheim. Dude signed long term because he loves the city and wants it succeed and we would just throw him away. I feel like that would just end up hurting any players wanting to sign long term knowing they could just be tossed at a moment's notice.

Also don't think he sucks, overpaid yes, but terrible is not true.
