I like all of this, which usually means the other teams decline. Raanta would keep us from getting involved with the guys on the trade market, which is a plus. Raanta also would be an upgrade over upl and comrie. Zub and ceulemans are nice targets for us too.

Except in the injury-prone department......his track record has shown he's sturdy enough for about 30-35 games and he's just getting older. If we think Levi can handle the remaining 45-50 games, then fine but I think even his most staunch supporters would like to see him eased in rather than force-fed a ton of games in his rookie season.

According to latest from Friedman and Pagnotta, I think you can give up hope on Barbashev - both in terms of that contract term (which both insiders think will now land him a 7-8 year term based on his outstanding playoffs) and in how many teams are going to chase him and offer him a ransom. Friedman didn't think Barbashev will eclipse $6M but he could end up with long-term security, which the player has made a point in saying is important to him.

I think everyone in Sabreland is expecting minimal if any changes to the forward corps beyond Oloffson being dealt out and possibly Girgensons or Jost not being re-signed - certainly not someone of Barbashev's impact that would create the famous "block" of a spot for Kulich, Savoie or Ostlund.
