Ask yourself this, If I’m the Jets do I want Campbell? The answer is absolutely not.

If your the Oilers and you want Hellebuyck do you need Skinner? The answer is no.

So, I’ll help you out with what you already know, any trade for Hellebuyck doesn’t start until the name Skinner is attached.

The Jets don’t give a crap about the Oilers cap space, you want Hellebuyck, that’s the start. Also, the other pieces involved gets you kicked out of the conversation as well.
Picks are fine, but players & prospects are not getting it done.

Meanwhile, that’s a huge overpay for a player (Pesce) in his last year of a contract, I’d clarify that as a trade and sign.

Not to keep picking on you, nobody is retaining salary.

The oilers arent getting pesce. Like 14 dollars of cap space and 1 and 1/3 trade assets left. Itd be more worthwhile for the canes to just run it back one more time than trade for what will be 27th overall or something plus Cody Ceci of all players.

- Your first point, do Jets want Campbell? If the appropriate compensation is provided I believe they will be willing to take him. I believe that i have provided that here with the draft capital and solid prospects in the trade.

- if i am the oilers i easily keep skinner while also trading for hellebuyck. Having two solid goaltenders is crucial for success. So skinner is staying.

- i fail to see how u believe picks are fine but prospects aren’t. If anything prospects are superior than picks because the team is trading for a already known established young talent who has a higher chance of panning out down the line than a draft pick which could end up being anything from a bust to a gem.

- As for salary retention on both trades if the jets and canes want to maximize the value they receive by retaining on these expiring deals, it would be worth there while.

- As for the price on pesce. It will be competitive to acquire him. Good teams make big moves to improve now and if it means paying that price for a top pairing d man then go for it. His contract expiring can be a concern when we get to the 2024 offseason rn the oilers must look to go for the cup in 2023-2024 season.

Broberg is great prospect and can turn out well. Ceci could thrive in the canes system if deployed correctly. The first round pick will turn into solid prospect if the canes play their cards right. Not to mention the second round pick is in the deepest draft in years so the canes could get a real gem. However if they do ultimately decide to keep pesce over trading him for picks and prospects that would understandable as they have a solid chance at a cup next year. However I believe this trade i have made here is a realistic return for pesce considering his expiring contract.

No, Ceci cant thrive, hes not good. Toronto thought that, ottawa thought that, now edmonton is realizing it too.

Like half the league could outbid the oilers on this deal. They just dont have the capital for it.

Last year Ceci actually did pretty well. The problem this season was that Woodcroft kept on giving Ceci heavy minutes with nurse and he couldn’t handle it. In a smaller role he is effective, however he has lost his place in the team with kulak pretty much taking his job and the need for a top pairing defender.

As for ur belief that this trade could be easily outbid I simply disagree with u and have already explained why I believe my price for pesce is fair.

did you bother looking? The Sabres could offer their 4th best prospect and it would still beat this deal. Ceci's value is strictly at a bottom pair role. Issue there is, you can sign those guys anywhere, for less money in fact

Your offer may be fair, in your eyes. But it wont be the best offer on the table, not even close.

1) The JETS don’t care about your “compensation or cap situation” say it with me, The JETS don’t care about Campbell, it doesn’t make sense to a rebuilding team, they want a future number one goalie that’s under control and term for 8 plus years, not a leaky goalie who barley above replacement level making 5M a year.
Add Hyman and you might get a reaction. Seriously dude.

If The Oilers have Hellebuyck, Skinner is going to play 15 maybe 20 games. Look that Sh+t up, Hellebuyck plays above 60 games a year…
You need a competent back up, Talbot making 1M a year. (Talbot is an example) not a future number one goalie making 2.6M a year to warm a bench.

Picks are fine because the team is rebuilding, they want picks so they can get their own prospects, not Edmonton’s 3rd-4th and 5th best prospects.
Try Holloway, Lavoie, Broberg, Niemeläinen
That’s the ask….guaranteed!

If your the Jets that’s who your target prospects are.

Whatever misconception you have with Ceci is baseless, ask any GM in the league and they’ll tell you a RHD is thee hardest position to obtain.
Regardless of what you think you know.
That’s facts.
Ceci was hurt all last year, played with a torn athletic pubalgia or better known as a sports Hernia for the better part of the season. They don’t get better only worse.

The Provorov trade and the Severson trade says the Oilers have exactly what the Canes want.

If RHD are so hard to get, why would CAR give pesce away? And how are you comparing that to Severson? That third rounder was the cost of getting him that 8th year, not the actual trade value for Severson. And Provorov? The defender afraid of defending and multi coloured jerseys?

Seriously, those guys arent in the same class as pesce. I feel bad for Canes fans . A statement i never thought id say.

That’s funny, then why hasn’t he signed and why are all the “insiders” saying it’s unlikely.

Nobody wants to play in Buffalo. McDavid and Draisaitl is much more appealing. That Eichel trade did the Sabres no favours. The org is still viewed as second rate and its in conference. EDM easily wins any trade vs them in Pesce and the Canes eyes.

He hasn’t signed bc they’re negotiating. All insiders = Lebrun lol. I think it’s 50/50 they sign or trade but the way you position it makes it sound like you’ve never negotiated a contract or a deal in your life.

He doesnt have a no trade, they could add him as a rental. My point was that the offer gets beat, by buffalo or others. Although for what its worth, the sabres came off a bunch of no trade clauses this summer apparently. At least thats what was reported.

The org doesnt have the same reputation any more. Its never going to be New York or LA. But its disingenous to suggest nobody wants to play there. Otherwise Tage would have just waited two years and gone to free agency. Probably wouldve made way more money. Also the russian prospects who couldve just stayed overseas. or the college FA who couldve gone to FA.
