Myers, Pearson Beauviller all expire when Pettersson expires, no need to dump Garland, no need for Kapanen if Tamapa would give you a pick for Kapanen why wouldnt the blues just do it themselves?

Because you could retain $1M for the year, getting him down to a $1.2M cap hit. Would bring up the value of the pick in return and the Blues would only have to retain $1M instead of $1.6M.
