Hard to see how Oshie would take a pay cut and only 2 years when he's looking at the biggest UFA moment of his career. Speaking of pay cut, Thornton can do better than that.

Also hard to see how Anisimov would be that hard to get rid of. He's a quality player, not a cap dump.

And even as a Blues fan, I feel bad for Hossa. I don't think it has anything to do w/ Hawks wanting cap relief. Hoss was still a good contributor, 20-goal two-way forward.

Yeah because Oshie is going to take 3 mil off, of what he has been offered and Anisimov is going to get traded for nothing. Along with Thornton 82 point scorer 2 seasons ago (50 this year) is going to sign for less than Kruger.

Thornton and Oshie make sense for a few reasons. Say what you want about the Hawks being not the top cup contender out of the west. It's still a prime destination for big free agents sure they lost in round 1. Still finished 1st in the west and have 3 cups to fall back on. If Thornton has one shot making a cup run. It's Chicago or Pittsburgh those are your perennials every year has a chance to win it. The idea of him playing between Kane and Panarin is definetly an intriguing one. As for Oshie don't forget him and Toews are really close they can play together again for the first time since there UND days. Throw them on a line with Debrincat and see what happens. Ultimately I think the Hawks still have woes on the backend that they can't really address this year. It's kinda like take the 3 vets 2 of which are on the decline and put 3 young guys out there and pray.

As far as the money goes I left 2.5 mil available I'm sure Oshie and Thornton would command more than that just using generous paycuts. It depends on how bad they want a legit chance to win it.

Also none of this is possible without the anisimov move which is highly unlikely as is.

If you really think players would take a pay cut to play for the Royal Blackhawks, I guess that is an ok perspective, but the money you're proposing is way below realistic, making this scenario impossible. Oshie can find a $6Mx5 contract elsewhere... that's big money and security for the rest of his career. Thornton made $6.75M on his last deal. If he's looking at going to a contender on a 1-year deal, someone will offer him $4M+.

Okay the Oshie signing here is ridiculous. I agree that he will get at least close to 6M for 4-5 years.
However, it is EXTREMELY hard to believe Thrornton will get anywhere near 4M. The 38 year old isn't going to come back from a torn ACL and MCL and play great. Those aren't injuries people nearly 40 overcome one at a time let alone both. He also was declining last year. Anyone that offer him a 4M contract is out of their mind.

For this team overall, it makes ZERO sense. Svedberg was an AHL scratch at times last year and Roszival will be BY FAR the slowest player to play in the NHL next year.
