Did you not pay attention to any of the criticism of the DeBrincat trade from Red Wings fans?

Yes i did. I just think it’s non sense. A two time 40 goal guy who had a down year and still netted 27, who’s eligible to sign a long extension, who’s 25 years old, can easily fetch a 1st and 2nd. Cmon.

How many years has Detroit been terrible? They really wanna hold on to no.9 pick and wait 5 years for the kid to develop MAYBE. Debrincat is legit and your nuts to think otherwise

You're charging a 40 goalscorer cost on a player that didn't break 30 this year lol. You even mentioned that he only got 27; so don't charge him as if he got more.

Rushing a rebuild is how you end up in mediocrity and failing to even have cup expectations. Dorion said the rebuild in Ottawa was finished and they failed to make the playoffs. But now they have very few assets to fill up those holes. DeBrincat is the only one I can think of, but is it enough to turn this team into a contender?

As for 5+ years, how long do you think prospects take? Unless it's a goalie prospect, 3 years is the very latest lol. You expect whoever is available at 9 to be on DeBrincat's level; not hope.

We have 2 firsts. Detroit isn't in the business of throwing top 15 picks away. I get you guys are, but thats not the Wings path. We'll offer 17 and maybe add a player or a later pick to it, but you aren't getting 9. Period.

Fair enough. The opportunity to lock in a guy for 8 years, who’s only 25, whos hometown is DET, who’s scored 40 twice in 6 years (would of been 3 times if not for short season in 2020) is appealing to a lot of people I bet and I don’t think the line in the sand is drawn over 8 slots in the draft.

Okay, go back to 2020 draft and tell me (outside of the top 5 cuz the DET pick is no.9) who is an established NHLer 3 years after getting drafted

GMs will take the original Cat to OTT trade as a base then lessen it due to his lesser performance this year. They would still consider the past, but they won't trade more for a player who produced less then when he was first traded. It doesn't help that he isn't signed, because he can just hold out.

2020 non top 5 picks who are established NHLers: Drysdale, Perfetti, Lundell, Mercer, Guhle, Peterka

2021 non top 5 picks who have played NHL games already: Cole Sillinger, Wyatt Johnston, Matt Knies, Simon Edvinsson,Brandt Clarke

2022 non top 5 picks who have made their NHL debut already: Marco Kasper

The "made their NHL debut" players are a near 100% chance to be full time before their d+3 year given that they've already debuted.
