Ottawa rejects not even close

Avs not in the market for cap dumps. While I like Clutterbuck as a player and what he has to offer, not enough for $1.75M. Avs will need to get creative this summer in order to ice a serious threat again.

Maybe they reject, but to say it's not close is ridiculous. Ottawa gave up a 1st, a 2nd and a 4th for two years of team control for DeBrincat. To suggest a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd (I assume the other 2nd is for taking Bailey's contract) is not enough for him as a rental is just silly.

The problem is the type of deal. Ottawa isn’t taking on cap dumps no matter the incentive ,try a rebuilding team. They’re also gonna prioritize a 2023 1st over 2024.

And the 1st that they gave up was 7th overall which should give u a prospect that would usually not be included in a trade

When they traded for him they were getting two years of team control though. Now, unless he's traded with an extension in place, he's a rental. If Ottawa lets the acquiring team negotiate before the trade they'll get more, but absent that, they're not getting anything close to what they gave to Chicago to get him.
