Solid roster - good UFAs.

I'd try to use that extra cap space to get a better goalie or an upgrade at forward

I like the singing of Engvall and Barba. Nylander will play on the first or second line, not a bottom-six player. But I'm not too fond of the Defense and Goaltending, Kyle wants to trade for a new defense. I would stay with Jarry or trade for a goaltender And we don't have to pay for Rutta.

Solid roster. Got some space to go after a bigger name goalie than Korp, or even a better LD. I like this roster.

Nylander isn't close to a top 6 player. He will be fine in a bottom 6 role.

I have to agree with Fabi on this one. Nylander needs to play in the top 6. He'll disappear in the bottom 6 getting heavy dzone starts - I don't think his playstyle fits there. He looked good in his brief stint in the top 6 this past season. Plus having him in the top 6 allows them to drop a guy like Rust to the third line which significantly helps their depth that we're always complaining about. If he's not top 6 I'd have him on the bench. Unless Sullivan drastically changes his deployment strategies which I don't see happening

He's a puck mover with good vison and passing. He helps big time with the transition game and could be a benefit to any line. His shot isn't great though. He won't be able to stay a top 6 guy for that reason. There is nothing wrong playing him in the bottom 6.

Like everyone said above, this is a very solid team. And pretty realistic. Barbashev or Bertuzzi, one of them we should get for sure

Here's my question though. If he's won't stay a top 6 guy and struggles in the bottom 6 as well then how is he going to fair overall. I don't know, I think he did a lot of the small stuff right, but has a bad shot and is on the slower side. Which are two areas we are weak at already. I have my doubts and I think Poulin and O'Connor have more potential personally. We'll see though

I agree with your first sentence - but those things you mentioned are better utilized in the top 6. I have disagree with the rest. Having him in the bottom 6 is a waste to me - and the lines overall would be better by moving him up and a guy like Rust down. He doesn't fit the mold of a bottom 6 player. He'll be lost like Granlund was. Use the talent of Malkin to bring better depth to the team. Just my two cents

If he fails it's no big deal. He's a league minimum player that can be replaced with a waiver pick or call up. It's not the end of the world. Also, we need to pump the brakes on Poulin. He was struggling last year before taking over half the season off. He will need at least a full season in the AHL before he can be counted on in the NHL.

It's not a big deal at all, but just don't think we should count on him for top 6. I think Poulin has potential, I thought he looked really good in the few games he played. Sometimes players do better in NHL than AHL when the competition is raised. I don't know if he'll need a full year there, but would like to see him get some playing time if possible.

I don't think Nylander will make any impact in the top 6, but I like him in the bottom. I just worry about Poulin's production. It's pretty poor in the AHL for a guy who is expected to produce at the NHL level.

I mean we don't really have any slam dunk prospects at this point. And I don't watch AHL but I am aware of the stats. Just watching Poulin play though, I think he has a higher ceiling than Nylander. He was much more noticeable for me in the games he played. I still think Nylander is solid, but for a team that needs more speed and finishing in bottom 6, don't know if he's the guy. Think he'd be a solid backup forward and is worth keeping around for sure.

Nylander is older and more polished, so I think he has the edge. The guy who I like and think they really need to give a shot to is Puustinen. That kid is so skilled and so smart. He routinely makes high end plays at the AHL level.
