Id do that if I was Vancouver. i don't see too much of an upside for Min. Even if they don't value picks and are trying to win now (which they should) steel has good potential and tbh is prob better value for money than Boeser rn

Wild aren't really trying to win now and nor should they. 15M in dead cap. They're just simply trying to hold serve until the buyouts drop off.

well they def shouldn't rebuild... they were 4 wins away from 1st seed. I think 1 or two guys to retool is all you need and then trust the youth. Kaprizov, Boldy, and JEE is a sick core

In this draft with so many centers available and the fact you have no idea if Rossi is a bust or not I wouldn't make this trade. The Wild still haven't solved their center position and Boeser is enough of an upgrade to make this move. If this draft wasn't so deep then maybe but keep in mind, there were 4 centers taken in 2003 (the draft compared to 2023) that are considered HOF calibre taken after pick 21. If you move that pick and the Canucks take a center like Heidt and they end up a Bergeron or Getzlaf calibre player that's a huge ouch.

Possibly a trade around Rossi for Boeser with some salary retained.

Boeser isn’t worth that at all , and winger isn’t a need, nevertheless the cap. Minnesota need C , not winger

They are certainly not rebuilding. Holding serve just means they're not doing anything big one way or the other. MN would love to go out and spend right now, but they're handcuffed by the buyouts, so it's a non-option. Next two years are all about staying reasonably competitive without spending major assets - the big moves will come once they can use the full cap. Not being in win-now doesn't mean they're rebuilding. It's a unique situation with that much dead cap.

I honestly would be interested in some sort of trade for lindholm in Calgary. If there was some sort of rossi/Addison/1st type deal for lindholm with an extension but final year retention I think it would make sense. With zucc, foligno and hartman off the books next season they could potentially make an extension work for one year of cap he’ll then be off to the races. Likely unrealistic, but was just my thought

Yeah good point - that's actually one that i've seen mocked up and seems like it could work at least from a cap standpoint. As you said, we'll get a little cap flexibility next year, so it's at least plausible. Lindholm would be a huge get. Obviously unlikely, but that would be a massive leap forward in 1C for us.

Yeah i tried that one out, 2 firsts, this years VGK second, O’rourke and Bankier for Lindholm, with an 8x9 extention for the start of the 24-25 season, seemed to please most people and i thought it was fair

I get he was a former first round pick but the only thing he has to him at all is decent hands, i dont value him high so i moved him here, the picks are for retention and boeser could use a change of scenery imo and this team needs more scoring which boeser can provide, yes we need centers but that can be obtained elsewhere, Rossi is coming up, they still have other prospects as well, i think its a win-win for both sides

I like Lindholm a lot, but I do not like the idea of giving up a lot in futures for a late 20s/early 30s player who’s play could fall off the cliff at any second…especially when the Wild would be forced to sign him to a 7-8 year deal because of the price paid. The only way I would trade something valuable for a player that age is if a veteran player was the major piece going the other way!
For example, if Zuccarello or Spurgeon or someone like that was the big piece in the trade, sure…I would strongly consider it…

I’ve thought about it matthews wants out of Toronto’s a package around spurgeon/boldy/rossi and a 1st would really be a swing at the fences. But would also be a huge shift in the franchise. That would be interesting as a change for both franchises
