Capitals are asking teams to take Mantha with a sweetener. No need to give assets for him, especially when your team has essentially no future. Either take Mantha with the sweetener, or use assets elsewhere.

I agree with you but it doesn't make sense in general to retain. The Capitals don't have a ton of cap space, paying $2.2M for a player you don't have doesn't make sense to me.
