A trade like this would be possible with a third team involved.

That trade is so bad Arizona. More cap, far less years of control, Coyotes are worse on the ice too.

If Keller doesn't believe in the future in Arizona this might be one of the best offers they get, a superstar and a B level prospect. Also helps them stay above the cap floor because of how big Marners AAV is, plus lots of his contract has already been paid out in signing bonus money from the leafs. From a pure business perspective which is seemingly how the yotes have been operating, this makes the most sense.

Arizona's only interest is in picks and prospects, which they'd need to get from another team, which Marner would go to.

So what if Keller doesn't believe in the future (of hockey)in Arizona.........no one does.
How is Marner THAT much better Keller based on last season. Keller seven more goals than Marner, Marner did have thirteen more points. Keller's on a great five years team friendly . Marner's two year contract isn't that special value. Keller for Marner would be robbery for the Leafs.
Then you want the Coyotes to trade a NHL winger Crouse, a excellent first rounder, a meh winger Fischer for a prospect Robertson.
Sorry bud, your proposed trade is terribly one sided in favour of the Leafs.

The table scraps is Robertson, fringe guy at best. Marner is the crap contract that the Leafs got themselves into and now want someone else to take. The 12OA in 2023 is a reasonable trade for Marner and Robertson. This proposed trade will be laughed at as is and will get hung up on whenever the Leafs get around to getting a GM to make the call.

Side note: Tree is a great guy, he did a good job as an assistant in AZ and a great job with the Flames. He will be a fantastic GM in Toronto once Shanny finally pulls his head out and hires him.
