Description
Seen a few similar trades proposed by Kraken fans, sometimes with a first rounder thrown in. Going off of those, but downgraded to Sprong plus SEA's second rounder.

*Edited to add $1.5M/yr to Colton. TB probably loses Colton by trying to keep Killorn. They want to move on from Elliott but need a very cheap backup given their cap space, so the value they get is really the 2nd rounder acquired from SEA.

Not sure how Barbashev shakes out as C vs. LW, but he's a nice addition anyway and Colton has the ability to slide into 2c occasionally if needed.

Leaves some cap flex heading into the season. I don't think this sets up much of a cap crunch if/when Landy comes back and we need to negotiate next deal for Toews.

Sprong has had 1 above average season, Girards value is way higher..

Annunen is our future #2 and #1 goalie at this point a bit short sighted to trade him for a bottom 6 forward

Thats a bit low for colton, I imagine if he leaves tampa he at least gets 3.5 although you still have 3.6 left in cap space so you could add the extra 1.5 onto the contract to make it work

I agree that Girard is valuable, but I just don't think the market is going to be very strong for him. I'm generally less concerned about goalies, especially if our D-core is strong the next few years. Colton is already middle 6, imo.

Tampa Bay declines. If Colton is willing to sign that contract, he stays in Tampa. And if Tampa is forced to trade him, they'll get far better offers than that.

Edited to add $1.5M to Colton.

I doubt Annunen ever becomes a #1; he'll be lucky to make it as a backup. Correct about Sprong.

Avs aren't looking to move Girard so any offer would have to blow them away - this isn't that. Not that I care but Tampa would be best served by keeping the younger guy and moving on from Killorn.

Tampa Bay still declines. They are in "win now" mode - same as the Av's. They aren't interested in picks or prospects. If they have to trade Colton, it will be for an NHL ready LHD or another middle 6 F.

Bottom six your funny. Colton per 82 over his career has 20.3 goals 15.6 assists with 35.9 points playing 12:14/GM yeah give him 17-19mpg playing with top 6hes a 30-35 25-30 55-65 guy all day. That offer doesn't come close to getting Colton.

The talking heads play up TB's cap crunch and boil it down to TB most likely having to choose between Colton and Killorn and that every other team has the advantage negotiating for Colton knowing TB's situation. Generally curious on two questions:

1. Do TB fans/media think that assessment is accurate?
2. What kind of offer would TB consider for Colton?

The per 82 are his real numbers and all of course but yes he is really a shooter. 5th this year in PP goals but was only on the 2nd pp unit for part of the season. Probably a cost controlled NHL ready LD and cheap 4th line foward. I'm a big Killorn obviously, but he's gone unless he does an 8 year 2 million dollar front loaded contract to keep the AAV down . Some thing like 8x2 with this type structure:
Year 1 $5,000,000
2 $4,000,000
3 $3,000,000
4 $2,000,000
5-8 $1,000,000
With him not being 35 yet it would be a standard contract and if retires TB isn't stuck with the cap hit.. He could retire in 3 year basically getting $4,000,000/year with a 2 million dollar cap hit for the next 3 years

1) Yeah the only way they keep killorn in my eyes is if he signs a $1mil 1 year deal to wait for the cap to go up next season, or if they get a really good trade offer for colton, or colton gets offersheeted.
2) I know that a lot of people on here do not want picks or prospects for colton but I wouldnt be upset with picks as I would just deal them at the TDL for a retained player. Its really hard to say what coltons value is because he is playing limited minutes and it was only his second full season and tbh its not like it even matters, the playoff numbers are the most important anyway, but I would say something equivalent to a pick from the 25-35 range would be what I am looking for, I just dont think that any LHD or equivalent player we would be getting for colton would save any cap space if they were actually any good, much rather get the pick and trade for a LHD at the TDL.
