The Kane and Pacioretty signings aren't needed, but just figured both would be on LTIR for so long that their salaries would minimally take away from the Rangers cap space.

Vesey is making 800k, why would the Rangers move him? He is probably the best player for that price we can have on the 4th line

I don't disagree, I just noticed Vesey couldn't finish on plays throughout the year. Had great opportunities, but couldn't score/finish his chances. I thought Perry being more of a grinder, similar to Cuylle would fit really well with a little bit of a speed presence from Acciari (and Perry may be able to mentor Cuylle). The line would be both physical and grinder/net front presence with finishing ability (in my opinion, more-so than Vesey). Again, not saying I dislike Vesey at that price, but just trying to create a tougher team to play against (one's opponents hate to play against due to their knack to win).

I'd be shocked if Miller signs for that cheap.

He was atrocious in the playoffs, and wasn't as good as everyone made him out to be in the regular season. He had boatloads of turnovers and sometimes seemed to lose focus which caused struggles in the d-zone. I feel like the 3.25 million (even 3.5) for a 2 year bridge deal (or even 1 year bridge deal) is right around the norm for him (imo). Also in my opinion, if he won't agree to that, trade him somewhere that will for a nice return of assets.

He still put up 40+ points with no powerplay time. He gets more than 3.25

In my opinion, no way, unless it's a long term contract, and with what the rangers will try to do in the offseason, 3.25-3.5 million for 1-2 years after an abysmal year (stating his point total doesn't take into account other factors of his game). He had 68 giveaways last year (so just around 1 a game) and a lot of them seemed to be big/at key points in a game. That's compared to his previous two years of 37 and 45 respectively. He had 1 point in 7 playoff games (an assist). 44 pts in 86 games. For a bridge deal, that's the max. Again, different if we are talking long-term extension, but the rangers don't need to (still have him for entry level terms - the first 7 years in league). He also had a corsi for% of 49.6 which was his best to date (which was below league average for his playing time).

Because Miller went to college for 2 years, the rangers only get him until he's 27, not his first 7 years in the league.
He'll hit free agency in 4 years.

Yeah but still, even if it is until age 27 (which you are correct because of his college experience), for a 2 year bridge deal, that should be all he gets. He still falls below that threshold of a long-term deal in my eyes

2 years would be a bridge deal, but then you run the risk of bridging miller so low that he just takes the QO and walks to UFA.
Plus if you dont include Low paying RFA years, then you end up with a massive cap hit when he gets his second contract.

Bridging has its time and place, but a guy like miller who is already a top 4 nhl defenseman, is not a valid reason to bridge.
You wanna bridge a guy like Laf, who hasn't come close to his upside, and wants to bet on himself.
You wanna bridge chytil, who was flashing here or there, but you dont wanna lock him up because he hasn't solidified himself at a position. (they then extended him once he showed he was a 2C, and buying out ufa years)
