Well those are three trades that shouldn't happen. Brodie likely doesn't waive to a non playoff team, and why would Nashville want another expensive Dman. Laughton is not worth a first....lots of 3m third liners available. Too much premium to give for Murray

I don’t think Leafs do the first 2 trades

I understand wanting to shed Murray’s cap, but they aren’t in a position to throw away first round picks anymore. Maybe for an early second rounder where they only move down a handful of picks, but not entire rounds. You can live with buying out Murray I think to keep the first round pick

Laughton is a middle 6 guy, closer to a 3rd line center who puts up numbers similar to Kerfoot, so you want to be giving up first round picks for that?

Brodie plays a ton of minutes in the top 4, you have replaced him with 2 LHD for the same cap hit, so I’m not totally against the idea

They quite literally will have to give a 1st for both of them. Flyers aren’t moving Laughton except for an overpay and Murray’s contract is awful and everyone knows the Leafs need to move him so they have no leverage

The Flyers won’t part with Laughton unless it’s an overpay. He’s not worth a 1st but they have no reason to move him anywhere unless they get one for him. He also brings a special type of grit and leadership to a team that it seems Toronto desperately needs in their locker room. His intangibles are measured on paper.

We don’t need Laughton then, nobody is going to overpay for him. Murray we can send to Robidas island or buyout and keep our 1st

Saying “nobody” will pay a 1st for him is a little ridiculous considering it was widely reported in Philly that a dozen teams were offering a 1st for him at the deadline 2 years ago before he re-signed in Philly but sure talk like you know what ur talking about lol

Toronto just had a lot of grit and leadership in their dressing room, doesn’t seem to matter. Don’t think the leafs will be paying a ton for intangibles

Clearly the leadership there wasn’t right or wasn’t enough. If you have enough stars and enough leadership how did it take 15 years to get out of the 1st round?

If anyone pays a 1st for him now I will happily come back to this to give you credit, but I just don’t see that happening at all tbh

I agree with you but for different reason. I don’t think the Flyers make him available in general so I don’t think anyone even bothers to waste time negotiating lol

My guess is that they haven’t been around for 15 years… maybe Scott Laughton does bring that edge though as he’s been on a successful flyers team that has won 1 playoff round in 10 years as well

I mean yeah Laughton only has 1 playoff series win but at the same time they have only been in the playoffs what 3-4 teams in the last 10 years lol. Leafs are in almost every single year.

And to be clear, that’s exactly my point, they just brought in gritty players and veteran leadership last year, clearly it wasn’t a difference, what makes you think Laughton does that better than someone like Oreilly or Aciarri or Schenn?

NSH isn't paying you to help you fix your cap issues. If you want that cap shed, then you need to give us some form of payment for taking it on.
