Overpay for Keller, underpay for marner

Ive seen Panarin for Marner trade come up many times and its not the right move for the leafs since Marner plays penalty kill, is younger and has a lower cap hit.

I’m not a fan of return for marner.

Arizona declines....Goodrow is a cap dump (a negative value), Lafrenière is a bust, Robertson is meh at best....For a proven young 24 yr old winger who by the way is the face of the franchise (best player).

You would have to include guys like Othmann, Cuylle and Scheider for Arizona to consider.

Lafreniere is not a bust, the guy had nearly 40 points last year playing third line minutes and barely any PP time. Goodrow is to make the salary work, but if ARZ takes 50% or some % to make his salary 2 million, you don’t think another team would want him? That gets them another pick. In addition to the 1st and 2nd round picks, that should be enough for Keller looking at comparable trades.

The fact is that Keller is your best player, but the timeline for ARZ being competitive doesn’t line up with Kellers. The guy wants to win.

You have two years of marner, who is going to cost much more than the 11.6 Panarin will make for the next three years. Panarin has had 90+ points every year sans the COVID year, how is that declining. The Leafs need a change, it may cost slightly more with Panarin, but not much more.

He's a bust, and the fact the Rangers fans aren't willing to give up big pieces for a young star who's under contract at a nice salary for a while is just being naïve.

If Lafreniere isn't a bust...how about you guys keep him and offer Othmann and Scheider to Arizona for Keller.

That “change” they need isn’t trading their best players. Panarin is 5 years older than Marner, north of 31. Marner has had more points each of the last 3 seasons and is the superior defensive player.

There is no sales job good enough to move Marner for Panarin.
