Marner is paid what 99 point Selke finalists make.

You’ll never hear Scheifele and Selke in the same sentence.

This would be the opposite of what Florida did (getting older) and could result them in missing the playoffs for the first time in 7 years.

But you will hear that Marner and Scheifele are rendered useless in the playoffs. Both get destroyed when the whistles go away. They wipe each other out in the deal. But, Marner is still paid far too much.

Ehlers and the pick for Nylander and Liljegren makes the deal work, but again only if the Laffs retain some of Marner's far too expensive contract.

Schiefele was 26th in Selke voting back in 2017/18



Scheifele still holds the record for most away goals scored in one series. The only active players who have scored more goals than him in a single series are Crosby, Guentzel, Ovechkin, and Pavelski.

Marner might be the only player in history that gets 99 points, leads the league in takeaways, is a Selke finalist and is considered garbage by outside fans. It’s laughable.

I'm obviously not saying Schiefele is better defensively than Marner now. Just trying to stop some incorrect information from spreading. When talking about 2018, you will hear Selke and Scheifele in the same conversation.

26th is a long way from the Selke ‘conversation’. That’s probably the equivalent of a hometown vote.
