Description
the 3 year contracts for lowry and ROR conveniently line up with when McDavid's contract expires....

for those who are wondering about the ramifications for 2024-25 season:

cap projected @ 88M, so additional 4.5M to allocate:
+ 2.5M raise to matthews (14M)
+ 2.5M raise to nylander (9.5M)

brodie resigned for 2.5M (2.5M in space)
+ 2M raise to liljegren (3.4M x 2-3 years)

giordano retires (+0.8M space)

leaves us with a 23-man roster with 0.8M in cap space, which will skyrocket the year after when tavares resigns for considerably less

I don't think ARZ takes that deal. Keller is THE bright spot on that team right now and the value of that trade is way off. Nick Robertson, to me, is injury prone and is very behind in his devopment. I agree with you that TOR should trade him this offseason at some point (they should've traded him last preseason tbh) but not just him and a pick for an elite talent like him. Keller is a play driver and a top 3 forward on any team.

Okay Juan, seriously get someone to read the trade to you and explain in very small words.
1 - Steeves, Alex (NOTHING)
2 - 2023 1st round pick (BOS) (LATE 1st round picks are generally of little value - Unproven draft pick that "may" play in the NHL some day - So... NOTHING).

If you can't see that, then don't even bother replying. It's quite clear that the offer for the heart and soul of the Jets who does so much for them is worth a LOT more than NOTHING!

Jets should entertain that trade but with all the other parts that likely move first and how he won team mvp I doubt he's moving

That BOS pick might be a top 15 pick next draft, especially if Bergeron and Krechi are not coming back. They'll probably either try for speedy rebuild or a re-tool, and there's no certainty that they'll make the playoffs with a new roster.

Also, for your late first round pick has little value remark, while in theory this may be true, as there is uncertainty in that, you can't discount that more elite players have been coming from the late first round and even through the entire second round in the past 5 years. Just look at Dallas' 2017 Draft: Oettinger was a late first, Robo and Hintz were both second rounders.

Which D? Obviously Rielly is not the D you mean because well... he's better than anything on the Jets.

After Rielly, the Laffs don't have a D worth much. McCabe and Liljegren would be the only D the Jets would be interested in.

In order to understand this, you have to understand how INCREDIBLY important Lowry is to WPG. Most people look at the depth chart and they see a 3rd line C that can fight. Yes, he does that. But, he's one of the most defensively responsible players on the Jets. He's put in all the most difficult positions. He has also played Wing on the top line for more grit, muscle and 200' game. Most importantly, he has the back of all of his team mates and stands toe to toe with the toughest players in the league.

He's one of the 5 players on the Jets shouldn't even inquire on, unless they are going to offer RIDICULOUS assets in return. Lowry, Ehlers, Samberg, Morrissey and Helly (who will be traded this season, but for more than most people are thinking) should be ignored by GM's wanting to trade.

Horrendous trade for Vancouver. We don’t need another soft playmaker who doesn’t show up when it counts. Not to mention, how would the Canucks make room for his 10m cap hit? It makes absolutely no sense.

The value isn’t an issue but I don’t see a way where the Canucks can make Marner’s cap hit work, especially if they aren’t moving significant salary in the trade
