Cap goes up... players filter out... Samsonov can go somewhere else if he wants more money. He's not the long term answer. I like him but he's not technically sound. He is like Raycroft used to be. Raycroft was a good goalie with technical flaws. Samsonov is the same. nice goalie but thats it. I'd prefer they continue to date, but not marry.

Samsonov is just a small part but goaltending is going to cost 5m at the least, you had like 3M for the tandem I think. Knies, Liljegren, the eventual Leaf starter. Can't rely on the cap to go up that much, when they will probably have a minimum of 4M increase in cap hit between Knies and Liljegren alone.

I just saw something else too... the way JT's contract is structured he he has a 7M signing bonus on July 1st the next two years and an 900K salary for the actual season. The Leafs could easily say WE WILL pay the7M this year and THEN make the deal, leaving only 9M left in actual money on the contract... ITs too perfect.
