He needs to stay. I'm at the point where I say run it back next year. Try to get Matthews (12.5) and Willie (8-9) signed. See if we can get a reduction on Mitch's contract in 2 years (unlikely) , and let Tavares walk if he wants more than $4 mil.

LOL great trade for the Leafs but you wouldn't get Mangi and the 1st out of Calgary for just 1 year of Nylander. There's absolutely no chance you'd get Andersson not even straight up 1 for 1.

There will be some pretty good players available at 16th OA this year, Calgary won't be trading that pick for a rental. If Willy comes with an extension then we can talk but you still won't be getting Andersson.

My two cents: I think Nylander would be a great fit in Calgary under a non-Darryl-Sutter coach. He does have the ability to drive plays, he could be a guy that wakes up Huberdeau, for instance.

But the price tag including Andersson is simply too much for Calgary. Hope to fix one hole by creating a big one in a different position. Andy brings that much to the Flames' back end.

Andersson and Weegar are the two defensemen I wouldn't trade and I'd be reluctant to trade Zadorov too (we could use another big mean defenseman too). I'd gladly move Tanev though or for a player like Willy even Hanifin.

Me too. The Leafs really should try to move Marner instead or better yet send some leg breakers to convince Tavares to waive his NMC but if they trade Willy he'd be a good fit under a coach like Mitch Love who I'm hoping gets promoted to head coach of the Flames.

I'd be wary of bringing up Love too quickly, he hasn't spent all that much time behind a bench at the pro level.. I'd season him longer and let him become the coach in a few years.. I'd go for Andrew Brunette, give him a 2 or 3 year deal. Huberdeau at least would get a sense of comfort, being familiar with his coaching.
