i think the sabres are on track to become the beast in the east, top 2 c signed 7 years at 14 mil combined with cap about to go up in their prime years! In addition they have 3 very good young D men and Dahlin emerging as a fantastic number one.

Their offense was great last season and defence wasnt, so getting Power a better partner in the top 4 and a elite nr1 until Levi is ready should be the priority!

targets: The goalie market is mediocre at best and all UFA ones seems like a shot in the dark so trading for one makes more sense to me, in this case i can see them going for a few different guys depends on who is willing to extend and who is available. I think Hellebuyck is the most likely one but i can see them trying to get Saros, Sorokin or Demko as well in case they wont extend/want out.

i think the best and most underrated defensive RD is scott mayfield and should come at a pretty ok caphit. we dont need a klingberg or dumba in terms of cap required or offense provided. a solid guy for a good cost while Power improves is enough i think.

Some help on the wing on 3rd line makes sense, i went for Nino as a package with Helle but this in essence is what kind of player i see them going for, an UFA so the kids raises next year wont break the team appart.

Also if olofsson could be upgraded for someone younger and with term do it (like him and a pick for LAfreniere or that caliber(young with utapped upside while still in the league), rangers cap problems might force them to trade him). in NYR case i see him fit in nicely with bread at 2k cap hit in a top 6 role scoring some goals.

i dont see this team with the additions above going for a rental at the deadline but using Savoie and Kulich as such instead and carry 8 D during the season should be enough. if additions are made, they should be an upgrade on mayfield via trade for a player with term.
