Good hockey trade for real. Obviously the Durzi-Suzuki connection would be awesome!

I like the first one
No point of trading for dubois if he become FA a year from now just get him for free we are not making the playoff in 2024 the east is just too good.
Yoi’ll get a better value for edmundson at the tdl i dont think they should sell him when his value is low.
At 5th i think smith or michkov is best option imo. I get why people are scared to take michkov but the guy has talent that rivals bedard. I think he is worth risk. You never know if drafted players will make the nhl.

1. You’ll overpay for Dubois if he gets to FA and it will hurt your cap situation. Better not risk it and give them some assets for him. You can lock him up long term sooner also.

2. The value of Eddy might be a 2nd you are right, but I do not agree with you to keep him until TDL. With Guhle, Matheson, Xhekaj (Harris?) on the left side, his icetime will probably be low and his value will probably not rise that much.

3. I have no problem with Michkov in MTL. He is really good, but I personally don’t think HuGo will risk it. In my ranking, Matvei is clearly in my top 5. But who is in my ranking after Bedard, Michkov, Fantilli and Carlsson? It is Reinbacher. He is not a sexy pick with a ton of highlights like Smith (a ton of turnover also). His game scream MTL Canadiens when I watch him. He is physical, insane defensively, joins the rush, good in transition and gets shot through. He was the 3rd best Dman in front of former NHLers like Tim Heed and Sami Vatanen in a really good NL this year. Nobody ever did what he achieved to do as a Dman in his draft year.

I could see them overpaying for dubois but also he said he want to be in mtl so he doesnt really have any cards left to help him out. They could get him a year early and see if hes a fit. Tbh i never really cared about dubois being in mtl until he said he wanted to be here and i think thats why fans want him to come, not really for who he is as a player but because hes a good quebec player and wants to play here.

I think they would just do rotation like they did this year before everyone got hurt but yes more ice time for young players is a good thing i just think they should have to earn it and not have it handed to them because a spot is open and thats why i would like to keep edmundson till the tdl. He also has an A and is a good leader/mentor for this young group.

Getting dubois will probably depend on who they draft. I dont really know much about the prospects but it just seems like smith is a consensus top 5 pick while reinbacher is more likely 5-15 range. Whoever Kent picks i will trust his vision. I would prefer michkov or smith just from what ive heard but guys like benson, reinbacher, dvorsky, leonard would be exciting picks

If he becomes a free agent, Dubois will receive a lot of offers. Brisson will certainly used them to raise the number of years and the contract value. That’s why you need to lock him sooner than later. Dubois is an elite 2C, he is not only a center from Quebec.

A rotation is a real nightmare for players and the coaches. If you want to build a solid D-core, you need stability. I agree that Eddy seems to be a good leader but business is business!

In the scouting community, Smith is not a consensus top 5 pick. I know many scouts that have lower than that (as low as 14th) due to his lack of compete during his season, his tendancy to not defend in the D-zone and his skating.
