Why is Chicago taking Muzzin without getting compensation to do so?

Because they can just put him on the LTIR or the IR if they so choose. It's like Arizona taking on the Datsyuk contract or the Voracek contract to then use that to make it to the cap floor. Chicago could do the same with a Muzzin. If he could come back which I highly doubt they would surely get something for him with 50% retained.

If he does come back no one is counting what they might get for him with retention if they flip him as part of the value of trading for him thats bonus assets not primary trade assets and if you think any team See's it that way you're completely out of touch with reality.
They demand compensation on both ends to bail a team out like that. Come on think about fron a non Leafs fan POV.
