Actually Detroit is one of the more desired cities to raise a family. Low cost of living, plenty of amenities, lots of nature, abundant lakes, close proximity to other cities. Detroit as a hockey organization takes care of it's players even after retirement.

Out of curiosity…what did Bertuzzi sign for today? I mean I saw the report for 1 year at 5.5 million. But that can’t be right??? If so he would have signed in Detroit to wear the winged wheel, right? He wanted a long term deal. And surely once it was obvious that he wasn’t getting the long term deal, he would have gone back to Detroit on the short term deal.
