Do you actually think this is the best offer someone will give for Matthews

For one year of Matthews, I wouldn’t offer this. With an extension in place is a different story.

For one year of Matthews, yes. There will only be so many suitors. Not many teams can afford him and even less are in a position to win where they would actually want to trade for him. The market isn't as great as you will think.

With an extension in place, the cost goes up a lot more. Most likely involves Quinn instead of Krebs and then also Savoie added.

Let's forget any extension nonsense. Sabres have Power to Dahlin to resign. Sabres have managed their cap well and have two premier centres in Thompson and Cozens. Matthews is a one year luxury the Sabres wouldn't trade for. Actually I don't see any team wanting to acquire Matthews and taking on his full cap hit.

Just wait until he's a FA and see if I can sign him then. Have a better understanding of my cap to after we finalize extensions for Dahlin and Power

Even with an extension, I don't think it could work, too much $$ when we need more defense and have to pay Dahlin and Power. I wouldn't do it.
