Quoting: AC14
Can see that for sure. However, tried to look at it through a glass half full lens. The same could be said about Parayko, but you and I both know that there's reasons as to why his stats haven't looked great and it doesn't have to do with his ability. I haven't looked to heavily into Provorov ad whats going on with him/why he hasn't been doing great. But it's realistically a cheap way to provide someone who can slot more into the role that we need versus being someone who needs to be sheltered 5v5. The most appealing thing is it's only a 2 season commitment with upside.
In terms of teammattes not liking him, i've heard that about Tarasenko too, but ultimately it's a dynamic for the person. Good chance he's just more of a loner than anything. We have a few other russians around that could probably bridge that gap. We've taken chances before, mainly Vrana, and it seems to be paying off pretty well. There's no time better than now to do it again
1 - He's not up to the job at all. Parayko plays the hardest minutes in the league, his partner is a tire fire and his volume of total stops is top 10. Plus, he played at a near Norris level the back half of last season, including the playoffs and nobody seems to have noticed. The Parayko hysteria is a lot of pearl clutching, even if he did have a subpar season. Provy has been bad for three seasons in a row.
2 - Well, speaking to someone who admittedly doesn't know what's going on over there, it's no secret the room does not like Provorov, and this did not start with his little pride warmup display. Local reporters have gone into this before.
Why hope and wish on a gamble when there are several very solid options out there, and then overpay for him? I don't get it, sir.
