Is there a Marner deal

Description
Hard to find teams that would want Marner that would have a top player to trade back. Kind of thinking similar to the tkachuk deal, has to be a deal Matthews would still resign here after. If not might as well trade both.

I have no idea from Pittsburgh perspective on this one, just putting it out there, would they have interest? More money have to be sent back so it’s more even cap wise?
Is this something pittsburgh would want to take a chance on? Hard to read the direction of their team

And you want our 14th OA? Awwww that’s too bad you’re stuck with Marner as you should he’s a phenomenal player and isn’t the problem with the Leafs.

Yeah Marner is worth far more than Guentzel and the 14th overall pick in a deep draft.

Honestly was afraid to put more and make people mad with that lol.
I’m just a frustrated leafs fan trying to find some therapy in looking at what they could do.
Thoughts on a Marner deal that would make sense for the leafs?

I mean its unlikely imo. Nylander is likely the guy who gets moved, which sucks, but a trade involving Marner would be much more complex due to his 11 million dollar cp hit. Not a lot of teams can afford that.

This is actually a really interesting idea. I think from a straight value perspective I would actually take it as a Pens fan. But there is definitely a big cap issue. The Pens would need to buyout Granlund and then figure out how to move Rutta/Petry and Carter most likely to make this work.

I get your frustration. Red Wings fans went through the same thing back in the 90s. Everyone wanted all our Russian players traded. Especially Fedorov. Fans even wanted Yzerman to be traded. I wasn't one of them. I loved Stevie and our Russians.

I don't believe Marner will be traded as long as Dubas is Leafs GM. So I won't speculate. But there's certainly enough fantasy land Marner trades for you to examine on here. LOL

Honestly my first thought was Marner for Guentzal and Malkin. Is that insane? It’s fine if you tell me it is. I get Malkin has a no move but things didn’t work out there this year
Also leafs bringing in 36 year old Malkin prob not smart either, just thinking about different ideas.
Feels like any kind of deal is more possible after the tkachuk for hub and weager deal. No one saw that coming.

Haha ya I’m trying to have a realistic look at it. At the end of the day none of know exact trade value for anyone.
Everyone can be quick to say too much or too little but I suspect the leafs wouldn’t have trouble finding value for an 100 point selke nominee. Just is there a deal that makes them better when it matters

Certainly. Marner would get a haul for the Leafs if they traded him. Don't listen to the trolls. Marner is an elite player whether fans want to admit it or not. It's hard to get fair value back in a star player trade though. Unless it's star for star.

Don't get me wrong, i'd love to have Marner on the penguins, and i'm sure he'd be perfect with sid, specially after their little all star romance but that's a big trade. I would imagine it would cost another 1st?

If Dubas leaves the Leafs and signs in Pittsburgh as the new GM however it will be interesting to see if he try's to bring players...

Nylander for PIT may make more sense, would have to give up much less.

Interesting actually, never even considered the possibility dubas could be the pens GM.
See what happens, everything for the leafs starts with will matthews sign an extension or not

His name has been heavily rumored, would imagine those get louder with a 2nd round sweep.
