Description
Team for next year is already in place now essentially so long as everyone stays healthy.

Some lower end deals which could have bonus's attached.

Ghost part of the future.

The new goalie could go so many ways...just as this roster can with the cap space thats available for next season.

Big addition would be bringing Lindholm back. Future centers would be Aho, KK, and Lindholm.

Leaves cap to bring up Drury or another call up if needed.

ghost is bad and shouldnt be retained. our third pair is the worst it was been defensively in some time and he isnt providing much offense either.

very little chance we get pay that premium for Lindholm know we wont re-sign him.

Elias Lindholm rescinded his trade request, After Darryl Sutter got fired. He's not going anywhere. And besides that offer would easily be beaten.

Ghost hasn’t been great offensively, but he has become a very underrated shutdown dman in Carolina. Not sure what you are expecting from a 3rd pairing, but Ghost-Chatty has been a very consistent pair, and is a definite improvement of Haansy-Chatty and Chatty-Coghlan pairings. If the money is about 2.5-3.5, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ghost resigns for 2-3 years.

I disagree with your take on the 3rd pairing. Way better than Cole, Smith, TDA, Bear, and so on. He was brought in to help the power play. Him and Chat have been just fine together. Hes stuck up for his teammates and has provided offense. 10 points in 23 games? He was to cute last night when he gave up a turnover that led to Jerseys goal. Other than that last night? 2 primary assists, and there was Noesens goal in which his stretch pass directly led to the goal. The other thing I will say is money could be the sticking point. I even feel like I was high.

check the stats. Cole and Smith had much better defensive numbers last season 5v5. the xGA/60 is near 1 goal less for Cole and Smith than chatty and Ghost. The crazy thing is there has been a few mistakes that chat and ghost have gotten away with too.

I get they dont make a ton of OMG what were you thinking type plays but they are our worst pair. Which is saying something because the Isles abused the Skjei and Pesce pair for a couple of games. But they have let in plenty of goals against worse offensive teams playing the most favorable matchups.

I mean, as good as the Canes would be if they had 3 top pairings, it’s a luxury that teams can’t afford, with a very big reason why teams don’t go that route being that it would take away from the rest of the roster. As is, just looking at on ice effectiveness, Ghost-Chatty have been the equivalent of an average to below average 2nd pair. Will they be the best shutdown 3rd pairing, no they won’t. But they are good enough to not be completely abused.

But that doesn’t mean Chat and Ghost are better than years past or means ghost is worth retaining (he isn’t). No need to pay a 3LD that long and that much who has no chance of being a 2LD in our system.

Suzuki is not nearly good enough for this trade. We literally have one of the best AHL scorers in the league and he barely cracked the lineup with twice the points as Suzuki. He's a bust. No thanks
