1) you have zero idea if Broberg pans out..absolutely zero.
Right now he ain’t trending anywhere near Bouchard.
2) We do know what the Yotes wanted because Ottawa paid for it.
3) Strome doesn’t have to play centre or he can be the 3rd line centre or he can be a winger & move to RNH spot, or Kane spot or Foegele spot.
Point is they would trade Broberg for Strome in a millisecond.
I won't pretend to know the future, but I can say with confidence that Broberg is trending significantly ahead of Bouchard as a 2-way defender. He doesn't have the offensive upside Bouchard does, but he's much better on his own end. Compare Bouchard's on-ice numbers 2 years ago with Broberg's this year and you'll see. Both players were 21 years old in this view.
CF%: PB 57.29 > EB 51.86
SF%: PB 56.48 > EB 48.33
GF%: PB 52.73 > EB 38.46
xGF%: PB 58.65 > EB 48.20
SCF%: PB 58.33 > EB 47.27
HDCF%: PB 59.13 > EB 45.45
Again, there are no guarantees in life, but Broberg is showing very well in the limited minutes he's getting right now - far better than Bouchard did (despite 38% greater offense) at the same age.

Strome wouldn't get 1st unit PP time in Edmonton, so he'd be wanted for his 5v5 scoring. He scores at a similar level to Warren Foegele, despite Strome playing with better linemates.
Strome: 0.98 G/60, 2.26 P/60, 69.64 IPP
Foegele: 0.93 G/60, 2.09 P/60, 77.14 IPP
IPP is individual points percentage, which tells how much each player was involved in the scoring while on ice. The numbers above tell us that Strome's linemates scored 3.25 G/60 while Foegele's linemates scored just 2.71. Ergo, Strome had more help. I guess that explains why its his secondary assists that push him above Foegele, if you look at primary points only Foegele had more, 1.70 v 1.62.
Would you trade Broberg for Foegele?
